The Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse release date is Thursday, October 15, 2026, and Konami’s first new 2D Castlevania in years arrives on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC at $29.99 for the Standard Edition. The game is built with Evil Empire, with input from Dead Cells studio Motion Twin, and it carries a PEGI 16 rating.
Konami’s official product page lists an 8GB install for the Standard Edition, which for Nigerian players is small enough to download on a mobile data plan without burning through a whole month’s allowance.

A new Belmont story set in a burning 15th-century Paris
Belmont’s Curse is set in Paris in the 15th century, 23 years after the events of “Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse,” and it opens a new chapter for the House of Belmont. The store listing on Steam names Rose Belmont as the lead, and Konami describes the game as 2D action-exploration, which places it in the same family as the series’ map-driven entries rather than the strictly linear stage games of the 1980s.
Motion Twin’s involvement is the part that has fans curious, since Dead Cells became one of the most celebrated action-platformers of the last decade and even ran a Castlevania crossover. The game targets 60fps on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, and 30fps on Nintendo Switch, according to Konami’s specifications. Audio is available in English and Japanese, with text in 11 languages including English, French and Brazilian Portuguese.
Standard or Midnight Edition, and is the extra $10 worth it?
The Standard Edition is digital only and costs $29.99. The Midnight Edition costs $39.99 and adds a Digital Sound and Art Gallery, a separate app with more than 100 artworks and a music player holding 71 tracks, plus three in-game items, namely a Trevor Style Costume, a Sypha Style Costume and the “Family’s Grace” relic. The Midnight Edition needs 10GB of space on consoles and PC, against 8GB for the Standard Edition.
Everyone who pre-orders or buys early gets an Alucard Style Costume, whichever edition they pick. If you mainly want to play the game, the Standard Edition covers everything that matters, and the art gallery and costumes are only worth the extra $10 if you’re a long-time fan who values the soundtrack and concept art.
How Nigerian players can buy it on launch day
Sony doesn’t run a Nigerian PlayStation Store, so most PS5 owners here buy through UK or US accounts, which means the price you pay depends on that region’s listing and your card’s exchange rate. Xbox players can buy from the Microsoft Store in their account region, while PC players can pre-purchase on the game’s Steam page. Naira card limits on international payments still trip up many buyers, so check that your dollar card works for online purchases before launch day rather than at checkout.
Konami’s page also lists a Nintendo Switch version, though some storefronts have shown the Switch release separately, so confirm the date on the eShop before you buy for that console. An exact unlock time for Nigeria hasn’t been confirmed, and some PC store listings have shown October 14 because of time-zone differences, so players here may be able to start late on Wednesday night or early Thursday.
Where it fits in a crowded October
Belmont’s Curse lands a week before “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4,” which arrives on October 23, and in the same week as “Tales of Eternia Remastered” and the Switch 2 versions of the “Resident Evil” trilogy. Its low price and small download make it an easier impulse buy than most of the month’s big releases, which you can see in our October 2026 game releases list. If you’re planning around Modern Warfare 4, our guide to its DMZ mode covers what to expect from that launch.
