“Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4” was the most downloaded PS5 game on the PlayStation Store in October 2026, topping both the US/Canada and European charts that Sony published on the PlayStation Blog on Wednesday, November 4, 2026. “EA Sports FC 27” finished second in Europe and third in the US and Canada, where “BeamNG.drive” took second place among PS5 downloads.

The charts count PlayStation Store purchases only, so games bundled with a console and paid upgrades are left out, and they cover the US/Canada and EU regions rather than Nigeria. They still show where the money went in a month packed with big releases, and several of the games NaijaGamer readers follow most closely, from FC 27 to “eFootball” and “Call of Duty: Warzone”, made the lists just as Sony’s Black Friday sale got under way on the same store.

Skipping PS4 didn’t cost Modern Warfare 4 the top spot

Modern Warfare 4 led both PS5 charts despite leaving PS4 owners out entirely, a decision we looked at when Modern Warfare 4 launched on PS5 and Switch 2 in late October. “Phantom Blade Zero” also held fourth place in both regions after only a few days on sale, a strong start for a new action game that asks PC players for 300GB of free space.

Older Rockstar games are still selling, too. “Grand Theft Auto V” sat 20th in the US/Canada PS5 chart and 11th in Europe, two weeks before “Grand Theft Auto VI” arrives on November 19, and “Red Dead Redemption 2” was the most downloaded PS4 game in both regions. If you’re clearing space for GTA 6, our guide to the 212GB pre-load that opens on November 10 has the timings.

FC 27 is the one game near the top on both consoles in Europe

EA’s football game came second on PS5 in Europe and second on PS4 there as well, behind only Red Dead Redemption 2, while it didn’t appear in the US/Canada PS4 top 20 at all. That PS4 showing means a good share of Europe’s FC buyers are still paying for the game on last-generation hardware. EA’s next gameplay patch, which changes how fullbacks defend, is covered in our report on FC 27’s November title update.

Among free-to-play games across PS5 and PS4, “Fortnite” led Europe ahead of “Once Human” and “Call of Duty: Warzone”, while Once Human topped the US/Canada list. “eFootball” came seventh in Europe’s free-to-play chart and missed the US/Canada top 10 entirely. Black Friday prices change twice before the sale ends

Sony’s PlayStation Store Black Friday sale started on November 4 and runs until 23:59 on November 30, with discounts of up to 75% on thousands of PS5, PS4 and PS VR2 games, expansions and add-ons. New titles join the promotion on November 16, and some discounts end at 23:59 on November 20, when they’ll be swapped for new offers. Sony says promotions and discount percentages may differ by region, so the price on your account’s store is the one that counts.

If a game from October’s charts is on your wishlist, check its price this week and again after November 16 rather than waiting for the last weekend, since a deal you see now may be gone after November 20. Sony’s full rankings, including the PS VR2 lists, are on the PlayStation Blog’s October downloads post.
