“Football Manager 27” is free to play on PC and Mac until Tuesday, November 3, 2026, through a Launch Preview that opened at 6pm GMT (7pm in Nigeria) on October 29, and any save you start during the free window carries over to the paid game. The full release follows on November 10, a week after the free period ends.

For Nigerian players who skipped last year’s game or have been waiting to see whether this one is worth buying, that leaves two days to try the new match engine and tactics tools without paying anything. It also means the hours you put into a career now won’t be wasted, because the official announcement says those saves can be continued “without the need to start again” once you own the game.

No sign-up, every mode open, and four places to download it

The free version isn’t a cut-down demo. The official Football Manager announcement says no sign-up is required and all game modes are available, and you can get it through Steam, the Epic Games Store, the Microsoft Store, or Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass. Only Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers get the preview as part of a subscription; everyone else simply downloads it from their usual store.

The developers describe this Launch Preview as a replacement for what they previously called the Beta or Advanced Access, and say it’s closer in quality to the finished game. The announcement lists a clearer interface, an improved match engine and new touchline controls called Tactical Tweaks and Tactical Effectiveness among the changes. One caveat comes with it, since the preview may include data that rights holders haven’t approved yet, so some club and player assets could be missing until launch.

What happens to your career when the clock runs out on Tuesday

From 6pm GMT on November 3, which is 7pm in Nigeria, only players who pre-purchase keep playing the Launch Preview, and the pre-purchase offer takes 10% off the price. If you don’t buy, your save stays where you left it and you can pick it up again after you purchase the game. Players who started on Game Pass can continue their saves through the subscription.

The announcement doesn’t give the full game’s price, and the platforms for the November 10 release beyond PC and Mac haven’t been confirmed on the same page, so console and mobile players should wait for an official word before planning around this date. The game also appears on Xbox Wire’s list of new games for November 2 to 6 as a PC Early Access title on Game Pass from November 3.

How to make two free days count before you decide

Start a save with the club you’d actually want to manage in the full game rather than a throwaway test, since it will carry over. Spend the time on the parts the developers say have changed, such as the touchline controls and the new interface, because those are what will decide whether this year’s game feels different from the one you already know.

If you’re on Game Pass, keep in mind that last year’s game has already been rotated out, as we reported when Football Manager 26 left Game Pass, so the new game is the one to install if you want your football management fix on the service. Fans who prefer playing the matches themselves can still try the free FC 27 Lite alongside it.

The deadline to watch is 7pm on Tuesday, Nigerian time. Download the preview today, play long enough to judge the match engine for yourself, and only pre-purchase if the changes win you over, knowing your career will be waiting for you when you buy the game.
