MW4 Season 1 goes live at midnight Eastern Time on Friday, November 6, 2026, which is 6am in Nigeria, and Activision says it brings two new Warzone maps, Hajin and Zodiac, along with the return of Verdansk and Rebirth Island. The same moment closes the door on Warzone for anyone still playing on a PS4 or Xbox One, because Activision confirmed in May that the free battle royale “will no longer be playable starting with Season 1” on those consoles.

For Nigerian players, that turns Friday morning into a hard cut-off. Plenty of Warzone squads still run on PS4s at home and in gaming centres, and from 6am those machines lose the game entirely, while players on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC move into a season that Activision describes as fully integrating “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4” with Warzone for the first time.

Hajin and Zodiac join Warzone as two old favourites return

Activision’s Season 1 announcement lists Hajin and Zodiac as the new battle royale maps, with Verdansk and Rebirth Island coming back alongside them. Hajin is the same setting that MW4’s DMZ extraction mode already uses, so anyone who has spent time in DMZ will recognise the ground, as our guide to DMZ and the Hajin map explains. Activision said it would publish the full Warzone details on November 2, ahead of the launch.

Multiplayer gets its own wave of content on the same day. Backstab and Canyon arrive as brand-new maps, Shoot House returns in a reimagined form, and a remastered Shipment set on a Russian harbour went live on October 27 before the season starts. Ministry and Overflow are listed for later in the season, together with more maps Activision hasn’t named yet.

Your PS4 has until Friday morning, and there’s no extension

The PS4 and Xbox One shutdown has been coming for months. Activision stopped new Warzone downloads on those consoles on June 4 and pulled the in-game store on June 25, while saying existing players could “continue playing until Season 1 launches”. With Season 1 now dated, that window ends at 6am on November 6, and nothing in Activision’s announcements points to a grace period afterwards.

That leaves last-generation players with the same choice we set out when MW4 launched without a PS4 version. Warzone stays free to play on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, so a squad that can move to one of those machines keeps playing, while anyone who can’t upgrade yet has only this week left. Gaming centres that still book PS4 Warzone sessions will need to move those players onto newer consoles from Friday.

The free track gives you two new guns before you spend a kobo

The Season 1 Battle Pass costs 1,100 COD Points, and a Battle Pass Bundle costs 2,400 COD Points, according to Activision. The free track still matters, because Activision says it includes two new base weapons, the Cronen Osprey and the CSG-35, plus COD Points among its tier rewards. Players who buy the Battle Pass and later upgrade to BlackCell get their 1,100 COD Points refunded, and Vault Edition owners already have Season 1 BlackCell included with their purchase.

Since BlackCell, the Battle Pass and Tier Skips only open once Season 1 is live, there’s nothing to buy in advance. Anyone weighing a purchase can wait until Friday, look at what the free track actually delivers, and then decide whether the paid tiers are worth the naira cost of COD Points.

PS4 and Xbox One squads have until Thursday night for their last Warzone matches on those consoles, so this week is the time to agree where the group plays next. Players already on PS5, Series X|S or PC should expect a Season 1 download on Friday morning and, on a capped data plan, wait for Wi-Fi or a cheaper night bundle before pulling it.
