Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve PC requirements call for Windows 11, a graphics card with hardware ray tracing and 150GB of SSD space, even at the lowest settings. Bandai Namco’s flight combat game launches on 2 October 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with the Steam listing showing 1 October for PC, and Deluxe Edition buyers get three days of early access before that.

That hardware bar is the part Nigerian PC players need to look at first. A lot of gaming PCs and laptops in the country still run older GTX-class cards, and none of those has the ray tracing hardware the game insists on, so this is one release where checking your rig before you pay really matters.
The Ace Combat 8 PC requirements rule out older GTX cards
The minimum spec on the game’s Steam page is an Intel Core i7-10700K or AMD Ryzen 5 3600X with 16GB of RAM and either an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 (6GB) or an AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT (8GB). Bandai Namco’s own estimate for that setup is 1080p at 30fps on Low settings. The listing also states that an SSD, a ray tracing-capable GPU and DirectX 12 with Shader Model 6.6 or newer are required, which means a GTX 1650, 1660 or 1660 Super won’t meet the bar no matter how well the rest of the PC performs.
| Minimum | Recommended | |
|---|---|---|
| OS | Windows 11 (64-bit) | Windows 11 (64-bit) |
| Processor | Intel Core i7-10700K / AMD Ryzen 5 3600X | Intel Core i7-12700K / AMD Ryzen 5 5600X |
| Memory | 16GB RAM | 32GB RAM |
| Graphics | Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 (6GB) / AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT (8GB) | Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 (8GB) / AMD Radeon RX 6800 (16GB) |
| DirectX | Version 12, Shader Model 6.6+ | Version 12, Shader Model 6.6+ |
| Storage | 150GB SSD | 150GB SSD |
| Target | 1080p, 30fps, Low settings | 1080p, 60fps, Medium settings |
The recommended tier is steep as well. It asks for an Intel Core i7-12700K or Ryzen 5 5600X, 32GB of RAM and an RTX 3070 or Radeon RX 6800 for 1080p at 60fps on Medium settings. The Windows 11 requirement is worth flagging too, since some Nigerian gamers still run Windows 10 on older desktops. We covered a similarly demanding spec sheet in our Gears of War: E-Day PC requirements breakdown, and the pattern of ray tracing becoming mandatory is clearly spreading.
Early access, editions and what each one costs
According to Bandai Namco’s official launch guide, early access is tied to pre-orders of the Deluxe Edition and the two PC-only Joker Flight Packs. The Standard Edition carries a $69.99 price on Steam and includes the F-14A aircraft, while pre-ordering before launch also adds Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War. The Deluxe Edition, listed at $89.99 on Steam, adds a cosmetic set, aircraft skins and a Premium ACE Pass Plus voucher covering 30 levels.
The Joker Flight Pack and Premium Joker Flight Pack are PC-only collector’s bundles sold through the Bandai Namco Store, with a vinyl soundtrack, a 208-page artbook and, on the Premium version, a military patch and an XXL LED mousepad. Shipping physical collectibles to Nigeria is rarely simple, so most local players will be choosing between the Standard and Deluxe digital editions. Steam charges Nigerian accounts in US dollars, which means the naira cost will move with your bank’s card exchange rate on the day you pay.
A 150GB download is a serious ask on Nigerian data
The storage requirement is the other practical hurdle. Downloading a game of roughly 150GB on mobile data would eat through several large monthly bundles, so players on MTN, Airtel, Glo or T2 routers will want an unlimited or fibre plan before starting the install. Free SSD space matters too, since the game won’t run from a hard drive and needs the full 150GB on a solid-state drive.
Online play is a big part of the package. Bandai Namco says the game supports 100-player lobbies with full cross-play across PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC for both co-op and PvP. For Nigerian players, that larger pool should make it easier to find matches at local hours, though latency will still depend on the servers you’re matched to. Our guide on lowering gaming ping on MTN, Airtel, Glo and T2 covers the network tweaks that help most with fast-paced online games like this.
Who should buy Ace Combat 8 on day one
Console players on PS5 or Xbox Series X|S are the safest bet, since they don’t have to think about hardware tiers at all. PC players with an RTX 2060-class card or better, 16GB of RAM, Windows 11 and a spare 150GB SSD can play, but anyone below that line should wait rather than pre-order. Story-wise, the game returns to the series’ fictional Strangereal world, with players flying under the callsign Rex, and the full launch on 2 October will be the first real test of how well it runs across the minimum-spec PCs many Nigerian gamers actually own.
