Minecraft Dungeons II launches on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, according to Mojang’s official Minecraft Dungeons II page, and the game’s Steam listing prices the Standard Edition at $29.99 and the Deluxe Edition at $49.99. It’s also one of the first places players will get to see the Sift, the new dimension Mojang unveiled at Minecraft Live on Saturday.
The sequel arrives at a busy moment for the series. Xbox said this week that Minecraft has passed 425 million copies sold, and Mojang’s Minecraft Live recap confirmed that the main game is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 on October 27. For Nigerian players, though, the more practical questions are what Dungeons II costs, where it runs and whether a typical laptop can handle it.

Minecraft Dungeons II swaps levels for one connected world
The first Minecraft Dungeons, released in 2020, sent players through separate mission levels picked from a map. Mojang has dropped that structure for the sequel. Minecraft Dungeons II is built around an interconnected world where players can jump, explore and stumble into rifts, and those rifts lead into the Sift, the dimension Mojang says is also coming to Minecraft Java and Bedrock Edition in 2027. That makes the Sift the first new dimension added to Minecraft in more than 14 years, joining the Overworld, the Nether and the End.
The story centres on an Illager High Council threatening the world, and the game keeps the loot-driven, gear-swapping combat of the original. Co-op supports up to four players, either online or on the same screen, according to the Steam listing. Players don’t need to have finished the first game to follow along, as Mojang’s own product page makes clear.
What Minecraft Dungeons II will cost Nigerian players
There’s no official naira price for the game. Steam lists Minecraft Dungeons II in US dollars for Nigerian accounts, at $29.99 for the Standard Edition and $49.99 for the Deluxe Edition, which adds two future DLC packs, a Soul cape, a Blub pet and two extra hero skins. The final naira charge depends on your bank’s dollar rate on the day and any card limits on international payments, so it’s worth checking your card before the game unlocks.
Pre-orders come with two hero skins, the Twisted cape and the Twisted Chicken pet, and that offer ends on September 28. On Xbox and PC, the official Xbox listing confirms the Standard Edition is included with Game Pass from day one and supports Xbox Play Anywhere, so a single purchase covers both console and Windows PC. Nigerian players weighing their subscription options can see how the tiers differ in our breakdown of Game Pass Premium and PC Game Pass. Xbox also notes that online multiplayer on its consoles requires a Game Pass subscription.
Can your laptop run Minecraft Dungeons II?
The PC requirements are modest by 2026 standards, which is good news in a market where many players game on older laptops and UK-used machines. The minimum spec asks for a GTX 1050 or RX 560 with 2GB of video memory and 8GB of RAM, while the recommended spec moves up to a GTX 1060 or RX 580 with 6GB and 16GB of RAM.
| Minimum | Recommended | |
|---|---|---|
| OS | Windows 10 64-bit | Windows 10 64-bit |
| Processor | Intel Core i3-8100 or AMD Ryzen 3 2200G | Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 5 2600 |
| Memory | 8GB RAM | 16GB RAM |
| Graphics | Nvidia GTX 1050 or AMD RX 560 (2GB) | Nvidia GTX 1060 or AMD RX 580 (6GB) |
| DirectX | Version 11 | Version 11 |
Laptops that rely only on older Intel integrated graphics are likely to struggle, since the minimum spec calls for a dedicated card or a Ryzen chip with Vega graphics like the 2200G. Online co-op also depends on a stable connection, and players on mobile data can use our guide to lowering gaming ping on MTN, Airtel, Glo and T2 before joining sessions with friends abroad.
No phone version, and why that matters in Nigeria
Android and iOS aren’t on the official platform list. That’s a notable gap here, because most Nigerian Minecraft players know the series through Minecraft on mobile rather than consoles. Anyone hoping to get a first look at the Sift will need a PC, a console or a Switch, at least until the dimension reaches Bedrock Edition, which runs on phones, sometime in 2027. Mojang hasn’t given a more specific date for that update, and it also hasn’t set a release window for the ice caves game drop it showed alongside the Sift at Minecraft Live.
